Renewable Energy — Grid Consultancy & Connection Management
Our ExperienceWe support and advise developers across renewable energy portfolios totalling over 2GW, with connections at distribution and transmission voltages. Our experience includes successfully progressing over 300MW of projects to Gate 2, alongside ongoing management of connection strategies, technical requirements and delivery programmes.

Our ExperienceWe support and advise industrial clients across multiple projects involving new grid connections, private HV/LV networks, infrastructure upgrades and specialist plant supplies. Our work includes assessing additional demand, on-site generation, behind-the-meter battery storage and vehicle charging to support operational needs and future expansion.
Our Expertise in ActionWe assess existing electrical infrastructure, available capacity and energy requirements, advising clients on connection options, upgrade costs and delivery strategies. We have designed private HV/LV networks, substations, earthing systems and bespoke power connection arrangements, alongside managing DNO interfaces and coordinating installation, testing, commissioning and energisation.

From Advice to DeliveryBacked by over 20 years of grid connection and LV/HV network experience, our services extend beyond consultancy into detailed design and construction. As a NERS-accredited Independent Connection Provider (ICP), we undertake grid connection and Balance of Plant works through to testing, commissioning, energisation and handover. Clients can appoint us for a specific scope or a coordinated service from initial assessment through to completion.
King George V Docks, Glasgow
Project:Delivery of new electrical infrastructure to support new dockside ship-unloading plant and raw-material handling and storage facilities at King George V Docks.
Our Scope:Management of the grid connection process and DNO interface, 11kV electrical and earthing designs, delivery of ICP and Balance of Plant (BoP) works, and full testing, commissioning, energisation and handover.
Key Challenges:Bespoke design of a new private HV network and eight dockside LV connection points with high-current plug-in power connections, earthing and control interfaces tailored to the mobile ship unloader. The arrangement allows the unloader to connect at multiple operating positions along the quay. Installation also involved new HV switchgear and a transformer within dockside sheds, together with approximately 1 km of HV cabling through confined-space dockside service tunnels, including jointing, testing and commissioning.
Silica Sands, Fife
Project:The Client wanted to utilise electricity produced by a local farmer’s wind turbine to power machinery at their quarry.
Our Scope:Produce technical reports on the existing electrical infrastructure, design the 11kV system by reconfiguring the existing layout, and carrying out all associated HV electrical and maintenance works.
Key Challenges:Design reconfiguration of the electricity network, developing and implementing a safe switching and testing procedure.
